Caregiver Training, Information, and Education offered at Kitsap County Division of Aging and Long-Term Care - Caregiver Support Center | From Kitsap Mall Blvd turn right onto Silverdale Way NW.  Turn right into the old Poplars Hotel (behind Bank of America). | The Caregiver Support Center offers an opportunity for unpaid caregivers, helping an adult in Kitsap County, to meet with a case manager, check out books from a lending library, and obtain brochures, tip sheets, and resource lists at no cost. Unpaid caregivers may also inquire about scholarship eligibility for caregiver training, education, or workshop opportunities. | Kitsap County Aging and Long-Term Care (ALTC) is a Division of Kitsap County Human Services Department and is the state-designated Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Kitsap County. ALTC can provide information and services for older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers that reside in Kitsap County either by phone, at the agency's office, email, community outreach events, or within agencies throughout the county. The agency receives state and federal funding to determine eligibility for a multitude of services, provide education in the community, and provide a variety of programs to support older adults, adults with disabilities and caregivers. ALTC helps individuals live as independently as they choose through needs assessment, advocacy, person-centered planning, caregiver support, and in-home care services. There are also subcontracted services available to individuals, such as Meals on Wheels home delivered meals, respite services for caregivers, legal assistance, dementia consultation, Senior Famers Market program, exercise, food assistance and fall prevention.

Senior Information and Assistance offered at Kitsap County Division of Aging and Long-Term Care | From Highway 16 take the Tremont Ave exit east.  Follow Tremont and turn left on Sidney Ave.  Located in the Givens Community Center on the left, about one-half (0.50) mile down Sidney. | Provides a variety of no cost resource information for people age 60+ and their family caregivers including counseling, memory screening, dementia consultation, fall prevention programs, meals on wheels, legal information such as power of attorney forms, telephone reassurance calls, energy assistance programs, and information about other existing community resources including light medical equipment loan programs in the community. This service also includes DSHS application assistance for programs such as SNAP/food benefits, Medicare Savings Programs, and state of Washington (DSHS) Long Term Care services (COPES, CFC, MAC, TSOA). YWCA Kitsap County operates a 13-bed confidential emergency shelter for victims and their children fleeing an immediately dangerous situation due to domestic violence. Guests in the shelter have access to the following: 24/7 Advocacy Services, 24/7 Safety Planning, Housing Advocacy Services, Case Management, and Resources and Referrals. | The YWCA of Kitsap County is the only State Certified domestic violence provider in Kitsap County. YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity to all. Tessera Community Employment Services works with local businesses to create job opportunities for customers with disabilities and helps them obtain/maintain employment or participate more fully in their local community. Services are offered in Jefferson, Kitsap, Clallam and Spokane counties. | Tessera Community Employment Services works with local businesses to develop job opportunities for people with disabilities in Kitsap, Jefferson, Clallam and Spokane counties. Employment Specialists match each person’s interests and abilities with the needs of employers in innovative ways in order to expand opportunities for people with disabilities in our community. Clients are typically referred to our program by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), but are also welcome to apply independently. We also provide employment services in partnership with local agencies through the Foundational Community Supports (FCS) program, and we serve beneficiaries of Social Security (SSI/SSDI) through Social Security's Ticket to Work Program. We are the sole provider of the Glidepath program for Kitsap, Jefferson and Clallam county. This program provides benefit planning and funding for work-related expenses to help people with disabilities return to work. Our professional staff help clients obtain and maintain jobs that match their skills, interests, and abilities. We provide support to individuals by helping them develop employment-related skills, access community resources, and obtain follow-up services if needed. We respect the dignity of each individual, provide person-centered services, and offer a flexible support structure to assist each customer in reaching their greatest potential. The individuals enrolled in the Tessera Community Employment Services program have unique abilities and the dedication to fulfill their potential as valued employees and members of the community. Home Delivered Meals for Family Caregivers provided by Meals on Wheels Kitsap

Home delivered meals are provided to participants of the Kitsap County Caregiver Support program. The service is provided to unpaid family caregivers and their care recipient as a means to provide a break for care giving responsibilities. This service is available within funding and eligibility limitations. | Meals on Wheels Kitsap, founded in 1973, is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious, well-balanced meals and more to seniors, 60 years of age and older throughout Kitsap County. Current program services include serving hot lunchtime meals at selected dining sites, providing convenient and nutritious meals for curbside pick-up at selected community dining sites, delivery of healthy, well-balanced meals to medically homebound seniors, nutrition education and dietary counseling for established clients, telephone outreach to seniors by trained volunteers, and coordination of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program between June and October annually.

Energy Assistance - PSE HELP/LIHEAP/WEAF offered at Kitsap Community Resources - Main | Heating & Utility Assistance Available Low-income homeowners and renters may qualify for help with heating and utility bills from fall through early spring. The amount of assistance is based on several factors—not on the amount owed—and you do not need to have a past-due balance to be eligible. Awards are granted once per season and do not need to be repaid. Appointment Scheduling Appointments begin in October and continue until all slots are filled through December. Once a month’s appointments are full, scheduling will pause until the month prior to the next two-month period: January–February appointments open in December March–April appointments open in February | Kitsap Community Resources has provided services to low-income individuals in Kitsap County for over 40 years. Our mission is to create hope and opportunity for low-income Kitsap County residents by providing resources that promote self-sufficiency. Our goal is to provide stability and opportunity for those in unfortunate circumstances such as poverty, domestic violence, debilitating health, or homelessness.  From prenatal care to childhood education to housing and energy assistance to employment and training, our services cover a wide range of needs that successfully achieve the ultimate goals of providing hope, opportunity, and self-sufficiency.
